Let me guess; your version of the graduation march is so old you're playing copies of copies of copies... except the saxes, who are using Eb Horn parts; those are brand new. There's no 2nd trumpet part, and all your 3rd trumpets play with those wrong fingerings someone wrote on the part back in 1982.

The first time it was used the graduatiuon speech was about Peace and Bringing our Troops Home... but they were talking about Viet Nam.

Here's my version. It's solid, not to hard, and Free!

Difficulty 1 1/2

Graduation 1988

I had been Band Director at NHS for several years and graduation had always run smoothly, coordinated by the formidable Mrs. J... until Mrs. J retired, and two new teachers were coerced into running graduation.

We're on the football field for the run-through. It's 95 degrees. The kids are there, the band is there, and the gnats are there. After several false starts it became clear the new teachers had only the vaguest idea what they were doing. After an hour I sent the band home. After another half I offered my help.

Line up in alphabetical order. You go here. You follow him. Sit. Stand. Follow. Sit. Throw hats. Line up outside the fence and do it again. Done.

And everyone was amazed. But YOU know... moving lines of kids around on a football field is what we do!
