Sand Hills Overture for Young Band
Date Posted:
February 4, 2008
By rights an overture should be named after towering majestic rocky peaks, but I happen to live about five miles from South Carolina's Sand Hills, which are rather modest little hills of, um, sand. You work with what you've got.
This is a very easy fast-slow-fast overture, playable by just about any middle school band. I think it will be fun to play and make your band sound good.
I have written low brass parts for trombone 1, 2, and baritone, but you can have all kids play the trombone 2 part if you wish.
Difficulty
1 1/2 - Very Easy
Features
Flutes take the melody on the slow section, but I considered making this a trumpet solo instead; feel free to transpose this part if you wish.
Download my free music. Play it with your band. It's well written, playable, easy to read, and all around a high quality product. It shows my ability as an arranger and composer. When you need an arranger for marching band, THINK OF ME!
